Allen Smith FBCI (Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute) has been involved in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity since 1989.

He has been involved in over 150 Risk Analysis’ and Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Projects. He has spoken at numerous conferences in southern Africa and also overseas. He was a co- founder of Computer Standby Services (now SunGard), a disaster recovery service situated in Midrand and also was responsible for setting up ContinuitySA for which he now acts as CEO.

ContinuitySA is now the largest BCM services provider in Africa. Allen is a past Chairman of the Disaster Recovery Association and also of the southern African arm of Survive, the International Business Continuity Group. He was the first South African to become a Fellow of the BCI and was the BCI’s southern African representative for a number of years.
